噂のGoogle書籍サーチがついにLaunchした。サービス名はGoogle Printというようだ。

Pages that are part of the Google Print program are identified with print.google.com/print at the beginning of their URLs and have an "About Google Print" link at the bottom of each page. These pages are also clearly marked in Google's search results with a [BOOK - BETA] tag as noted in the following example.

どうやら通常のウェブサーチの中に書籍サーチの結果が混ざって出てくるようだ。しかも検索対象となる文章はExcerpt（見出し）だけで、ランキング手法は従来通りなので検索してもほとんど出てこないのだ。

SearchEngineWatch.comの記事には、いくつかの書籍のタイトル（もちろん英語の本のタイトル）で検索した結果Google Printが出てくるかどうか調べているがほとんど出てこない、と嘆いている。

皮肉にもアマゾンへの該当書籍のページがトップに出たりする。

少々がっかりだが、まだまだベータ段階なので致し方ないというところか。Froogleのように別アプリケーションを想像してただけに期待外れというのが正直な感想だ。
